Ilhan Kyuchyuk taking over Dogan's new party? - 1

MEP Ilhan Kyuchyuk will probably head a new party around Ahmed Dogan. This was commented to News.bg by informed persons.

The leader of the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms (APS) will have to create a new formation, as he is expected to lose the legal battle for control over the MRF. At the end of this month, the Supreme Court of Cassation is due to rule on the case of the expulsion of Delyan Peevski and the group around him from the MRF, and according to experts, the expectations are that the decision of the Sofia City Court (SCC) that the expulsion was unlawful will be confirmed.

According to the SCC's reasoning, Peevski was not notified of the procedure for his expulsion, and the decision to expel him was not made with the required 2/3 majority of the Central Council.

The case for Peevski's expulsion blocks the changes in the MRF leadership, approved by the National Conference in December, held by Delyan Peevski's faction. It was then decided that Peevski would become the sole leader, and that Ahmed Dogan would no longer be the honorary chairman.

If the Supreme Court of Cassation confirms the decision of the Sofia City Court, as lawyers expect, nothing will prevent the recognition of the decisions of the National Conference, and Ahmed Dogan will have to forget about the MRF.

Sources of News.bg believe that he has already paved the way for the creation of a new party with new faces. At the action in Sarai, the youth structure of the MRF was the leader, which issued a declaration that the formation would withdraw its support for the government. The young people also demanded that their deputies give up their immunity.

At that time, Ahmed Dogan gave high marks for the work of the youth and announced a renewal of the party by giving way to the youth. Even during the discord in the MRF last year, some of his close associates wanted new faces at the head of the party, and the most closely aligned was Ilhan Küçük, who enjoys great authority in European institutions. He is also among Dogan's most trusted people.

It was to him that the honorary chairman was expected to entrust the party. But he apparently kept him as a reserve until he released Dzhevdet Chakarov to lead the battle with Peevski, sources comment.

Küçük's tours around the country have also confirmed to Dogan that the MEP is accepted by the structures and can be the face of the new party.

Küçük was a long-time chairman of the Youth MRF, from where future chairmen of the party were traditionally formed.
