"We expect 9 Bulgarians to sail from the island of Santorini today, 27 have refused to leave", Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev told journalists in the National Assembly.
The evacuation of our compatriots is in connection with the strong earthquakes near the Greek islands of Santorini and Amorgos in the Aegean Sea, which continue.
Around 30 of our compatriots have already left the area since the beginning of the week, when the earthquakes began.
This morning, at least eight earthquakes with a magnitude of over 4 were registered. The strongest of them was 4.7 on the Richter scale at 7:51 a.m. and had an epicenter in the sea 27 km south-southwest of the village of Arkesini on Amorgos.
Half an hour later, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 was registered in the same area, according to data from the Institute of Geodynamics in Athens.
Six new earthquakes with a magnitude of over 4 were registered early this morning near Santorini.
Georg Georgiev announced that our Foreign Ministry continues to monitor the situation in the earthquake area. According to him, there is no mass evacuation or panic.
