MFA: Bulgarian citizens should carefully plan their trips to Italy - 1

Bulgarian citizens should carefully plan their trips to Italy tomorrow and monitor the latest information in a timely manner due to a national transport strike. This is recommended by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) on its website. The strike is expected to have a serious effect on movement throughout Italy.

A national strike organized by several unions (Usi-Cit, Slai-Cobas, Cub, Usb, Adl Cobas/Clap) has been announced in Italy on March 8th, which will affect key sectors of transport and other public services, the MFA informed.

Air transport will be affected by the strike actions in the period from 00:01 to 23:59. The strike covers all major national and international airlines, with flights only guaranteed between 07:00 and 10:00 in the morning and 18:00 and 21:00 in the evening. Mass cancellations and delays are expected on both domestic and international routes.

Rail transport will be affected by the strike action from 21:00 on March 7 to 21:00 on March 8. The strike covers the companies Trenitalia, Italo, Trenitalia Tper and Trenord. A limited number of intercity trains (Intercity and Frecce) are guaranteed, which will run according to a previously published schedule. For regional lines, train movement is ensured in the time slots from 06:00 to 09:00 in the morning and from 18:00 to 21:00 in the evening. In Milan, in the event of disruption of connections to Malpensa Airport, replacement bus transport is planned.

The motorways will also be affected by the strike in the period from 10:00 p.m. on March 7 to 10:00 p.m. on March 8. Delays are possible when passing through toll booths (cash points), reduced staff in service areas and difficulties on main motorway sections.
