The parliamentary group of the political party “Moral, Unity, Honor“ (MECH) was restored. This happened after a vote in the National Assembly on Wednesday. “The question is who needed this parliamentary case, which led to tension and replaced the real problems. But I have no answer. The defeats on the parliament and the relations between the groups are serious. There are also serious consequences for the Speaker of the National Assembly, who did this“, explained former Minister of Interior Mihail Mikov in “Your Day” by NOVA NEWS.
“Changes in the rules have not been from the very beginning of democracy, but appear as a necessity when the vote of the voters is replaced. Or when members of parliament, elected with one list, who were members of a certain parliamentary group, leave and try to form a new one“, he explained.
According to him, the case was an ill-considered decision that led to unnecessary tension. “This gave Radostin Vassilev the opportunity to appear in a light that is not the best for Bulgarian parliamentarism. I think he should forget the incident more quickly“, the former interior minister emphasized.
Mikhail Mikov noted that he allows the hypothesis that the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova was deliberately misled into making this decision in order to put her in a vulnerable position.
According to him, just as the majority is fragmented, so is the opposition. “It could not have taken any action purely arithmetically. A vote of no confidence requires 48 deputies, and the resignation of the Speaker requires the signatures of 80 deputies. It is obvious that processes of consolidation in the opposition are beginning“, the former interior minister added.
“They will be the first to witness processes in parliament. Uniting around a vote of no confidence outlines another opposition configuration. No matter how much the selfishness of one formation exists, they understand that one cannot do without the other. These are objective processes,“ he noted.
