In two readings in one session, the parliament approved the bill for the ratification of the International Treaty "Acquisition of Javelin Guided Anti-Tank Missiles".
"For" were 164 deputies - GERB-SDF, "We continue the change-Democratic Bulgaria", "DPS-New Beginning", "BSP-United Left", "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms"-DPS, "There are such people" and "Majesty".
43 MPs voted against - from "Vazrazhdane" , "Moral, Unity, Honor" and one MP from "Democracy, Rights and Freedoms"-DPS.
The implementation of the contract will provide the necessary amount of missiles for the anti-tank systems of the "Stryker" combat and reconnaissance vehicles and will contribute to conducting training and maintaining capabilities for participation in operations to guarantee national sovereignty and independence and protect the territorial integrity of the country, says the motives of the bill.
The scope of the contract provides for the acquisition of guided anti-tank missiles; a light command module for launching missiles; maintenance equipment; technical literature; software related to the missiles; accompanying documentation; maintenance until February 2035; training for use; training of ammunition specialists.
The contract has a total value of 82,762,140 US dollars (153,937,580 leva, calculated at the exchange rate of the US dollar $1 = 1.86 leva) excluding VAT. The total value is within the financial and economic parameters set in the Investment Cost Project for "Acquisition of basic combat equipment for the construction of battalion combat groups from the composition of a mechanized brigade", in the part for the acquisition of Javelin anti-tank guided missiles.
