The Ministry of Interior has initiated disciplinary proceedings against the former deputy director of the General Directorate for Combating Organized Crime (GDBOP) Kalin Litov. He is accused of attempting to obstruct a police operation against smuggled cigarettes, which was carried out in mid-November 2024.
The case is described in a report prepared by the interior ministry and sent to the prosecutor's office. Based on the established data, Litov was dismissed from his post on April 3, 2025.
According to information from BNT, Interior Minister Daniel Mitov has also undertaken other personnel changes, as two heads of the regional directorate of the Ministry of Interior in Plovdiv were removed a month ago. The decisions were made after receiving the report from the internal investigation into the anti-smuggling operation.
