The road from Sofia to Montana and Vidin through the Petrohan pass in the Balkan Mountains has been cleared and sanded, and is passable in winter conditions, the Montana Regional Road Administration announced.
The snowfall has stopped since last night and the road is currently cleared to asphalt, and sanded against icing.
The temperature in the pass at night was minus 10 degrees, the snow cover is 10-12 centimeters.
The Montana Regional Road Administration advises drivers to drive carefully in the Petrohan pass and not to drive towards it with summer tires, as this can cause the car to skid and lead to chain accidents and road blockages.
The administration recalled that The ban on heavy goods vehicles weighing over 12 tons in both directions, as well as the restriction on towing trailers and the movement of vehicles over 12 meters in length, remains in force.
