Important for drivers: Traffic restrictions on the Trakia and Hemus Motorways - 1

Today, April 23, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., traffic in the direction of Sofia from the 8th km to km 0 of the Hemus Motorway will be restricted for geodetic surveying in connection with the upcoming development of a technological project for the repair of the section. Traffic will be redirected from the Yana junction on the I-1 Botevgrad - Sofia road to the junction at km 0 before the Sofia Ring Road.

Passing in the active lane will be restricted, and traffic will be carried out in the overtaking lane.

The “Road Infrastructure“ Agency appeals to drivers to drive carefully and at a reasonable speed, to follow traffic rules and not to undertake risky overtaking, which endanger the safety of all other travelers. Do not use emergency lanes on highways for faster movement in heavy traffic, as it prevents the passage of vehicles with a special traffic regime in the event of an accident. The emergency lane can only be used in sections with a temporary traffic safety organization in place.

AM „Trakia“

On April 23 and 24 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., traffic at the 23rd km of AM „Trakia“ in both directions will be in one lane for opening a „window“ in the median strip of the highway for emergency crossing from one lane to another, in connection with future repair activities of the asphalt pavement in the section.

Passing in the overtaking lanes in both lanes is limited, and motor vehicle traffic will be carried out in the active lanes.

Drivers are required to drive with increased caution and at a reasonable speed, strictly following the posted traffic signs.

AM "Struma"

On April 23, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., traffic in both tubes of the “Zheleznitsa“ tunnel and in the section before and after it /from 98th to 102nd km/ of the “Struma“ will be implemented in stages in one lane, first in the lane to Kulata, then in the lane to Sofia, announced the RIA.

The speed will be limited to 90 km/h before and after the facility. Passage in the active and overtaking lanes will be stopped in stages, and traffic will be directed to the free lane. The section will be signaled with road signs.

The temporary organization has been introduced to measure the bearing capacity of the asphalt pavement in the two tubes of the “Zheleznitsa“ tunnel, as well as on the section after the southern portal of the facility. The inspection is carried out annually by the Institute of Roads and Bridges at the RIA in connection with the warranty service of the section.
