According to an indictment filed by the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office, Georgi Semerdzhiev was sentenced to prison for using a fake driver's license.
On 03.06.2022 at around 10:40 p.m. on “Hristo Botev“ Blvd. in the city of Sofia, the accused Semerdzhiev knowingly used a fake official document – a driving license, which was given the appearance of being issued by the Swiss Confederation.
During an inspection, Semerdzhiev presented the fake driver's license to police officers.
Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated in the case for a crime under Art. 316, Art. 308, Para. 2, Para. 1 of the Criminal Code. During the investigation, expert reports were conducted and witnesses were questioned.
Semerdzhiev pleaded guilty before a panel of the Sofia District Court and was sentenced to 2 years of "imprisonment", which should be served under an initial strict regime.
The sentence was imposed after an agreement and its implementation takes effect immediately.
This is the second sentence imposed on Semerdzhiev, on charges by the Sofia District Prosecutor's Office for using a false driver's license. In April 2024, he was sentenced to 2 years of "imprisonment" for an identical act committed on February 14, 2022, the prosecutor's office reported.
