BUCHAREST, April 9. /TASS/. The Romanian company GRAMPET Group has completed the construction of Europe's largest transshipment terminal for agricultural products on the border with Ukraine, reports the Romanian edition of the magazine Forbes.

The company has invested EUR 10 million in the project and is starting to test it. The new complex, which is located in the village of Dornesti (Suchava district), “should modernize the railway structure in the region and support the reconstruction of Ukraine”, the publication notes.

„Romania plays an important role in the work of the solidarity corridors created by the EU countries to facilitate the transportation of goods from Ukraine”, emphasized the company's president, Gruia Stoica. After the outbreak of the conflict in Ukraine, GRAMPET Group ensured the transportation of more than 1.5 million tons of goods from Ukraine.

The 24-hour terminal in Dornesti should provide “transportation of 240,000 tons of grain and other agricultural products from Ukraine per month”. Thus, it will become a “strategic point for ensuring the flow of goods to the port of Constanta”. The complex, with a maximum capacity of 3 million tons, is equipped with a 128 m long wagon loading station and a 120 m long unloading station, which will allow simultaneous unloading and loading of eight wagons.

GRAMPET Group is the first transnational company with Romanian capital, as noted on its website. Founded in 1999, the company is a leader in private rail freight transport in Romania and Southeast Europe.
