For the new summer season `24, the chain of luxury hotels Rosewood decided to turn a castle from the 15th century into part of its portfolio. Rosewood Schloss Fuschl is located in the Austrian Alps in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Salzburg.
The restored and converted into a hotel castle has 98 rooms. 42 of them are apartments. Also available to guests are 6 cabins located by the lake. The complex also has a SPA center and a beach club.
The resort is inspired by local forests and animals, with rooms and suites designed to reflect the palettes of spring, summer, autumn and winter. The hotel's minibars in all guest rooms are hand-painted by local Austrian artist Marie Hartig and depict the four seasons.
Room sizes range from 31 sq.m to 55 sq.m, with the largest apartments offering a separate living area and a balcony or terrace.
The pearl in the crown of culinary offerings is the Schloss restaurant with classic and innovative dishes such as Blunzn Gyoza with sauerkraut and beurre blanc and Mattigtal lamb samara with black truffle.
In the Schloss Bar, guests can enjoy a drink next to the low wooden fireplace, originally dating from the 15th century. The secluded whiskey room is an extension of the darkly designed Schloss Bar, offering a wide selection of dark spirits, schnapps and wines, as well as light snacks. Closer to the water, Schloss Fuschl See Club brings the spirit of a luxury beach club to the Austrian Alps, inviting guests to spend relaxed days and evenings lounging by the lake.
Asaya Spa has an indoor and outdoor infinity pool, three saunas, a steam room and eight treatment rooms.
The restored property is part of the Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, founded in 1979 in Dallas, Texas. Rosewood offers luxury residential-style accommodation in 21 countries across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. The company's 33 properties include The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel in New York, Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel in Paris and the imposing Rosewood Hong Kong towering over Victoria Harbour.
While Rosewood Schloss Fuschl is a brand new hotel, the castle dates back to before Columbus arrived in America. The castle, originally a hunting lodge for the Prince-Archbishops of Salzburg, dates from 1461. Long part of the Holy Roman Empire, the area became part of Austria in 1803.
