Customs officers found nearly 92 kilograms of hashish in a truck during an inspection in the area of the "Danube Bridge" near Vidin, BNT reported.
The seized quantity is a record for the last 12 years. The drug was found in a truck traveling from Ireland to Turkey. Its price is 1.2 million leva. The truck driver has been detained for 72 hours, his permanent arrest will be requested.
Svetoslav Slavchev, head of the "Fighting Drug Trafficking" sector – Lom at the Customs - Ruse territorial directorate: "My colleagues have selected a truck with a Turkish registration that was transporting concentrates for soft drinks for inspection. They escorted it to the Customs Bureau – Vidin and during the inspection of the truck they found three objects - two bags and a backpack, which later turned out to contain 92 packages resembling small brown blocks with a characteristic smell of marijuana. The substance tested positive for hashish.
