Former German football international Jerome Boateng received a suspended sentence for violence against his ex-partner, announced the authorities in Munich, BTA reported.
He will have to pay a fine of 200,000 euros for the next offence.
The prosecution asked for a fine of 1.12 million euros, while the defense insisted on a "more moderate amount", as there had been a two-way physical altercation between Boateng and his ex-partner. He denies the allegation that he hit her and threw objects at her during their vacation in 2018.
On the first day of the trial, Boateng said the case had been a "nightmare," and his lawyer contested the charge that he does such things systematically.
The case between Boateng and his ex-partner lasted several years. He is currently a football player of the Austrian Linzer ASK.
