Levski coach Stanislav Genchev gave a press conference before his official debut at the head of the team tomorrow when visiting Lokomotiv (Sofia), BTA reported.
He expressed confidence that his team is well prepared for the start of the championship and showed confidence.
"It's good for us that I know most of the Lokomotiv players. About eight people are the same, some I have selected. I know their qualities very well, I have also familiarized our players with their strengths and weaknesses. The course of the match depends entirely on us. I think we have the better team and the outcome of the match is in our hands," the young specialist began.
"The best thing for me is that there is not a single injured footballer. Alex Kolev had a slight problem, but missed only one training session. I wanted to protect him. Everyone is online, which is the most important thing. We are ready for the first game. At the moment I can say that I have no dilemma, the starting line-up is clear in my head", he revealed.
"There is no development with Andrea Hristov. We haven't been in talks for any development. Tsunami is a captain and an extremely important player for our team. I do well in every position. It is good for every coach to have such a player. The selection will continue. We have focused on bringing in a central defender. We need more competition in the team. There is no need to set goals in Levski. Every coach and football player should know that the team is fighting for a title and a cup and should do everything possible to make the team last in the fight for trophies," the coach added.
"I want us to surprise with results and score as many goals as possible. It is clear to me that this is very difficult, because every opponent will play closed against Levski, on the counter-attack, so they will look for their chances. But I really want us to score a lot of goals", admitted Genchev.
"I am especially pleased with Rupanov. This is a new position for him. He feels very good in a scheme with three defenders, quickly understands what is asked of him and fulfills it. This gives us self-confidence to him and to me, that he can handle it and we can rely on him", said the former coach of Ludoghorets, Lokomotiv (Sofia) and Krumovgrad.
"If we observe tactical discipline, we can achieve all the goals we set for ourselves. There is a sparkle in the eyes of the football players. They are also disappointed that the team failed to qualify for the European tournaments last year. Now they can't wait for the season to start and to show that they are good footballers, they have qualities and can fight for the goals they set," he summarized.
"I always have two penalty takers - first and second option, because one may not be on the field. The players will find out tomorrow at the debriefing who will take the penalties, and you will find out if there is a penalty kick for us,", the coach said about his choices.
"I am fully focused on what our team needs to do to come away with a win. I have already said about Serkan Yusein that he is a very good footballer and a national player, but there are too many midfielders in our team and attracting him is not on the agenda", concluded Stanislav Genchev.
