The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) rejected the appeals of the Russian Olympic Committee, the Russian Figure Skating Federation and the figure skaters against the decision to redistribute the medals from the team tournament at the Beijing Games in 2022 due to the punishment of Kamila Valieva, the court announced, BTA reported.
On January 29, CAS suspended Valieva for four years for violating anti-doping rules. On January 30, the International Skating Union annulled her results at the Olympic Games, moving the Russian team from first to third place in the team figure skating tournament.
At the Olympics in the Chinese capital, the Russian team took first place, followed by the USA, Japan, Canada and others. On February 26, CAS received complaints from the Canadian team, the figure skating federation and the Canadian National Olympic Committee. They want Russia to be ranked fourth and Canada third.
CAC emphasized that the appeal of the Canadian side is being considered by another commission and it is not clear when a decision will be made.
