China's Deng Yaven won the women's BMX freestyle title at the Olympic Games in Paris, BTA reported.

On the park track in the French capital, 18-year-old Dunn had the best ride in both heats. She led after her first performance with 92.50 points, and in the second she managed to increase her score by another 0.1 points to 92.60. In this way, Dunn, who was only sixth at the last world championship in Glasgow last year, recorded the biggest success of her career.

American Paris Benegas finished second. The 2018 world champion was fourth in the first run, scoring 83.40 points, but improved her performance significantly in her second run to earn a score of 90.70 points.

Australian Natalia Dim finished in third place. She was the only finisher in the front to achieve a better result in the first heat and it was the one that counted as her final result. In her first pass, the Australian recorded 88.70 points, which was 1.1 points from her achievement in the second run.

The main favorite for the title and runner-up from the previous Olympics Hannah Roberts suffered a complete failure. The American finished in seventh place with exactly 70 points scored in the first run. She was unable to perform her tricks due to a right shoulder injury she sustained during the warm-up. Roberts collided his bike with that of the Czech Iveta Mitsulitsova. Mitsulitsova also did not perform in the best way and finished in sixth place.

Final ranking in the BMX discipline for women:
1. Deng Yawen (China) - 92.50 points
2. Paris Benegas (USA) - 90.70 points
3. Natalia Dim (Australia) - 88.70 points
