Vezenkov smashes Bayern Munich in Euroleague, scores 45 points - 1

Alexander Vezenkov set a personal record in the Euroleague after recording the third best achievement in the history of the tournament, scoring 45 points. Thus, the Greek Olympiacos defeated the German Bayern Munich with 112:69 (28:14, 23:23, 27:20, 34:12) in a match from the 20th round of the regular season, BTA reports.

The Greeks are leaders in the standings with 14 wins and six losses, leading Panathinaikos and Monaco, who have one more loss each. The top six teams qualify for the playoffs, and four more, including Bayern at the moment, will play in the play-in tournament.

Vezenkov played a phenomenal game, and Olympiacos secured the victory in the first quarter, in which he scored 14 points more than his opponent. Vezenkov scored the first basket of the game, then was accurate for the 21st and 27th points. He also recorded two rebounds and one assist.

The national team had 16 points at halftime, and after that he recorded another 29 for the final victory of Olympiacos. Vezenkov made the second half even stronger from the three-point zone, making 8/10 shots. His final score was 45 points, 100% success rate under the basket, 80% from long distance, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal.

The individual record for points in the Euroleague is still held by Nigel Hayes-Davies, who scored 50 points for Fenerbahce against Alba Berlin last spring. Five years earlier, Shane Larkin scored 49 for Anadolu Efes against Bayern Munich. Vezenkov is third in the ranking with 45, four more than five other basketball players.
