Sasha Zverev candid: I'm playing terribly

Alexander Zverev frankly admitted that he's playing terribly. The German experienced another disappointment in Indian Wells, after losing at the start of the Masters to Talon Griekspor. This, of course, turned out to be the big surprise of the tournament, reports gong.bg.

After the match, Sasha was asked if the thought of being No. 1 was on his mind during the match, and he replied: “In the beginning, there was that thought. Now not so much because I'm playing terribly. I have to find my game before I start thinking about it. To become No. 1, you have to win tournaments.“

Zverev also admitted that he can't think about the top of the rankings right now until he starts winning matches regularly. "I'm not getting past the second round at the moment, so I have to deal with that first," he added.

The tennis player, who reached the final of the Australian Open earlier this year but then crashed out early in Buenos Aires, Rio and Acapulco, said he was not happy with his performance. "I'm just not playing good tennis at the moment. It's that simple. I'm not at the level I want to be at. I'm not even close to that in Australia. I'm very disappointed with my game," the German added.

His next challenge is the Miami Masters, where Zverev will be hoping to get back to his form and start winning.
