Dominic Paris (Italy) won the super-G slalom in the Norwegian resort of Kvitfjell, valid for the World Cup. This happened just two days after the 35-year-old veteran also won the downhill in Kvitfjell, which was his first World Cup victory in the last 15 months. Paris triumphed mainly due to his very strong start, being second in the first sector of the track and first in the second, BTA reports.
Paris finished with a time of 1:08.98 minutes, ahead of Canadian James Crawford by 38 hundredths. Slovenian Miha Hrobat finished in third place, who was 47 hundredths behind the Italian.
World Cup leader Marco Odermatt of Switzerland finished fourth with a time of 1:09.46 minutes. The top five was completed by Vincent Kriechmayr from Austria, and interestingly, the third, fourth and fifth in the final standings were all within two hundredths of a second.
Marco Odermatt leads the Super G standings, already having 491 points and a 210-point lead over second-placed Vincent Kriechmayr. In third place is Stefan Rogenten from Switzerland with 271, and today's winner Paris climbed four positions and is now fourth with 262 points.
In the general standings for the major World Cup, Odermatt's lead is unattainable, with the Swiss man having 1,516 points to his credit. Far behind is Henrik Kristoffersen from Norway, who has 946 points and only participates in the technical disciplines. In third place is the Swiss Franjo von Almen with 776, as he won the downhill yesterday.
