Mauricio Pochettino spoke about the “very good relationship“ he maintains with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, and confirmed his desire to one day lead the club from North London again, BTA reported.
The 53-year-old Argentine, who is currently the coach of the US men's team, was at the helm of “Spurs“ for five and a half years before being fired in November 2019.
He led the club to four consecutive top-four finishes in the Premier League and participated in the title fight in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, as well as leading “Spurs“ to the 2019 Champions League final and would be happy to take on that role again in the future.
“When I left the club, I remember saying in an interview that I would like to return to Tottenham one day and that, of course, is... Now I'm in the US, I'm not going to say “no”, I'm not going to talk about it. What I said, after six or five years, I still feel in my heart that, yes, I would like to come back one day.
Daniel Levy and I parted ways very well and as he says, we will see what time brings,“, Pochettino said in an interview with Sky Sports.
Tottenham, who are now in their second season under the management of Angelos Postecoglou, have endured a difficult campaign, having been eliminated from the FA Cup and League Cup tournaments in early February, and are 14th in the standings, collecting just 34 points from 29 matches.
Their last hope for honours is in the Europa League, where they will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the quarter-finals next month.
