Ilian Iliev will part ways with the national team after the play-offs with the Republic of Ireland, claims "Tema Sport", quoted by Topsport.
The first of them is tomorrow at 21:45 at the "College" in Plovdiv, and the return match is on Sunday in Dublin.
The coach will announce his decision before the Executive Committee of the Bulgarian Football Union, which will take place on March 28. The meeting will discuss his resignation, which was requested of him by the head of the Bulgarian Football Union and member of the central governing body Atanas Karaivanov.
A week ago, the Executive Committee declared support for Iliev's work, but never considered his request to leave.
The President of the Bulgarian Football Union Georgi Ivanov-Gonzo had declared full support for the specialist on several occasions. However, he was attacked by both Karaivanov and Levski and Ludogorets. The reason is that for a year and a half he has been combining his work at the head of the national team with that in the Black Sea.
This will also be discussed at the upcoming Executive Committee. In addition, voices were raised against Ilian that in this way he was also influencing the refereeing of his team in the championship.
Gonzo has already backed down from his firm position and even after the Footballer of the Year ceremony hinted that a separation with Iliev could occur.
