Cummins has opened a new engine test center in Darlington, UK, which will focus on environmental technologies to ensure ultra-low and zero emissions of internal combustion engines. Not only diesel and gasoline engines will be tested here, but also hydrogen and battery-electric ones.
The center will play an important role in supporting the development of a wide range of products for Cummins and its Accelera division, including Euro 7 and Stage 6 internal combustion engines, fuel cells and batteries, as well as key components such as axles and electric wasps.
Following an investment of over £13 million, the two-storey, 738 sq m building significantly increases Cummins' testing capacity using state-of-the-art equipment.
This includes fully robotic driving with manual or automatic transmission, road grade and load simulation, wheel slip simulation and engine cycle simulation.
