Subaru has decided to modernize its legendary WRX model by launching a 2025 version that impresses with the first-ever digital instrument panel . Drivers are offered a choice of three main display styles: classic speedometer and tachometer, full-screen navigation map and safety display.
However, WRX fans came up with the idea of adding retro-style dashes inspired by classic WRX generations such as the Bug Eye, Hawk Eye and even the iconic 22B.
A Subaru representative said such an update could easily be accomplished through a software update. This will allow car owners to customize their instruments by adding design elements from previous models. Such a feature may be a free upgrade or available for a small additional fee.
Subaru's move could echo the strategy of Ford, which already offers historic-style digital instruments for the Mustang model. Such an option would make driving the WRX even more personal and unique to owners, enhancing the appeal of the new digital instrument panel as one of the most exciting innovations in the model's history.
