US Ambassador to Japan steps down - 1

US Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel intends to step down in November of this year to seek a position in the administration of Democratic Party presidential candidate Kamala Harris if she wins the upcoming election, the Kyodo news agency reported.

It is noted that Emanuel may become one of the contenders for the post of assistant to the president on national security. Donald Trump, if he wins the election, is expected to replace the ambassador to Japan, which is considered one of the main allies of the US.

The presidential election in the United States will be held on November 5. It was assumed that the Democratic Party would be represented by the current US leader Joe Biden, but after his disastrous performance in the June debate with the Republican Trump, calls began to grow louder among Democrats for the owner of the White House to abandon the fight. On July 21, he decided to withdraw from the race and endorsed Harris' nomination for the state's highest office.
