Former US President Donald Trump said he regretted leaving the White House after his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, which he never acknowledged, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
„We had the most secure border in the history of the country the day I left. I shouldn't have left. "Honestly, because we were doing so well," said the Republican presidential candidate at a campaign rally in Lititz, Pennsylvania.
Trump added that now “there are hundreds of lawyers” at each polling station for the upcoming elections for the head of state.
Trump also talked about the achievements during his presidency.
„We had the best economy ever. We got the wall (on the Mexican border – ed. note). We had everything," he declared.
Trump lost the 2020 presidential election to Democratic nominee Joe Biden. To this day, the former president refuses to admit defeat. He has filed dozens of lawsuits since Biden won the vote four years ago that have failed in court.
On January 6, 2021, his insistence that he had won and that the “victory” was stolen from him, led to his supporters storming the Capitol in Washington - the seat of the US Congress.
Trump ended up staying out of Biden's swearing-in ceremony later that month, breaking with tradition.
Trump is running against Democrat Kamala Harris in the Nov. 5 presidential election. He questioned the integrity of the upcoming vote.
