At least three people were killed and 16 were injured in a gas explosion in a former mosque in the village of Sabindi in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan, the press service of the regional emergency department reported.

An ambulance transported 16 injured people to the city hospital in Astana.

The rescuers removed six gas cylinders from the scene, and there were a total of seven in the building. The rubble is currently being cleared. 30 people and 5 pieces of equipment work at the scene of the accident, as well as psychologists and a canine service.
