The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Bucharest accused the US State Department of "not being able to refrain from directly interfering in the presidential elections in Romania", citing "unfounded and false accusations" by Washington for "malicious cyber activities aimed at influencing the integrity of the electoral process in Romania", reports the news site Hotnews, quoted by BTA.
On its official Facebook page, the Russian embassy published a message today regarding the US State Department's statement on the elections in Romania.
"The US State Department could not refrain from direct interference in the Romanian presidential elections, and on December 4, 2024, published a statement by its spokesman Matthew Miller with unfounded and false allegations of "malicious cyber activities aimed at influencing the integrity of the electoral process in Romania". In his statement, Mr. Miller threatens Romania with a refusal for American companies to invest in the country's economy and with other negative consequences if the country dares to change its course of unconditional support for the aggressive plans of the American-led NATO alliance," the diplomatic mission said in a statement.
"For those who rely on the information of the US State Department, we remind you once again: Russia never interferes in the electoral processes of other countries, does not organize "color revolutions" in them, in bilateral relations it does not resort to threats, blackmail, manipulation of public opinion through lies and distortion of facts. All these are tools in the arsenal of American diplomacy," the Russian embassy said.
The Embassy of the Russian Federation also states that it respects "every choice of the Romanian people" and advises Romanian politicians and media "not to involve Russia in the internal political processes in their country".
