Russia after the decision of the CC of Romania: The West does not want new reasonable politicians like Fico and Orban - 1

< strong>The first global reaction after yesterday's decision by Romania's Constitutional Court to annul the first round of the presidential election came from Russia. The head of the international affairs committee in the Russian Duma, Leonid Slutsky, made a comment, TASS reported, quoted by BTA.

On his channel in the social network "Telegram" he compared the situation in Romania to the pattern of the 2004 Ukrainian scenario. and accused pro-Western powers of a “brutal dictatorship”.

“The reason why the Constitutional Court annulled the results of the first round, in which Calin Georgescu won, was Russian interference. However, Georgescu can hardly be called a pro-Russian candidate, as he defends national interests in opposition to the aggressive agenda of Washington and Brussels, Slutsky noted.

He added that Georgescu himself has repeatedly rejected ties with Russia, assuring that he is only interested in the problems of Romania and world peace.

“There is no reason not to believe that. Certainly, Russia did not interfere in the elections in Romania, as it did not interfere in the elections in the Republic of Moldova, as it did not interfere in the elections in Georgia and America. We respect and defend the principles of non-interference in the affairs of sovereign states, Slutsky said.

He noted that even Kalin Georgescu's opponent, the pro-Western candidate from the "Union for the Salvation of Romania" Elena Lasconi has stated after the decision of the Constitutional Court that democracy in Romania has been trampled upon.

"A really rude, very rude action by the westerners for fear of the arrival of new sensible politicians like Fico and Orbán. "Real agony before the inevitable collapse of the unipolar world order," concluded the Russian politician.

Leonid Slutsky is the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia, considered ultra-nationalist, which was led by Vladimir Zhirinovsky until his death in 2022, TASS notes.
