Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a visit to the Syrian border today, that Israeli successes in the battle with "Hezbollah" and Iran paved the way for the Syrian rebels to overthrow the regime of Bashar Assad, reported the Israeli news agency TPS, quoted by BTA.

"The Assad regime, a key link in Iran's axis of evil, has fallen. This is a direct result of the strikes we have inflicted on Iran and Hezbollah, the main backers of the Assad regime. This has caused a chain reaction in the Middle East among those who seek to be freed from this repressive and tyrannical regime," Netanyahu said.

He said the cabinet had authorized the Israel Defense Forces to "take control of the buffer zone and its adjacent command posts", stating: "We will not allow foreign forces to establish themselves on our borders.

Netanyahu did not comment on Israeli strikes targeting Syrian and Iranian weapons stockpiles to keep them out of the hands of Islamist rebels. He also did not comment on the information that Israeli forces had taken positions of the Syrian army on Mount Hermon.

"The fall of Assad is a heavy blow to the Iranian axis of evil, which has set itself the goal of destroying the State of Israel," said Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, who accompanied Netanyahu. "The tentacles are cut off one by one. We came here to make it clear that we are determined to ensure the safety of the settlements in the Golan Heights.

The consequences of Israel's war with "Hamas" and "Hezbollah" caused a domino effect that led to the Syrian rebels - including the linked "Al Qaeda" movement "Hayat Tahrir al-Sham" and the Islamists supported by Turkey - to overthrow the regime of Bashar Assad, writes TPS.
