Drone attack on a military airport in Saratov region district was prevented, announced the head of the district Roman Busargin. In a statement on the Telegram social platform, he specified that the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were destroyed and there were no reports of damage or casualties, as quoted by News.bg.
Busargin did not reveal the specific military airport that was the target of the attack, but the district is home to the Engels air base, an important facility for Russian long-range aviation. The Ukrainian military claims that planes from this base are used for attacks against Ukraine.
The Russian Defense Minister has not yet released official information about the incident or the number of drones involved in the attack.
Engels Base has been the target of drone attacks over the past year as well. According to Busargin, all necessary emergency services responded promptly, which prevented more serious consequences.
