Ukrainian Army: We have a laser weapon, we can shoot down planes at an altitude of more than two kilometers - 1

Ukraine has a laser weapon capable of shooting down air targets at an altitude of more than two kilometers, Reuters reported, citing the commander of the country's unmanned forces, Vadim Sukharevski, BTA reports.

Sukharevski did not provide further details in his first official comment on the existence of the weapon.

Reuters notes that it was unable to verify this information through independent sources.

“Today we can already shoot down planes at an altitude of more than two kilometers with this laser“, the commander said.

According to Sukharevski, the laser is called “Tryzub“ – the Ukrainian word for “trident“, which is the symbol of the country's national coat of arms. This means that the system may be domestically produced, Reuters notes.

In April, former British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps said that the British DragonFire laser, which is expected to enter service in 2027, could potentially be used in Ukraine to counter Russian drones.
