US President-elect Donald Trump has said that Washington should control Greenland.
“I am pleased to announce that I have chosen Ken Howery to serve as the United States Ambassador to Denmark. In the interests of national security and freedom throughout the world, the United States believes that ownership and control of Greenland is absolutely essential.
Ken will do an excellent job representing the interests of the United States,” he wrote on his Truth Social page.
During Trump's first term as president, American media reported that he was interested in the possibility of acquiring Greenland, which is a territory within Denmark and has broad autonomy rights. At the time, the kingdom's authorities refused to discuss the sale of Greenland.
