Ukraine said on Monday it had hit a warehouse for storing and maintaining long-range Shahed unmanned aerial vehicles in Russia's Oryol region, adding that this had "significantly limited" Russia's ability to carry out massive drone attacks, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a post on Telegram that the attack was carried out on Thursday by the Ukrainian Air Force. “As a result of the strike, a warehouse for the storage, maintenance and repair of kamikaze drones “Shahed“, consisting of several protected concrete structures, was destroyed,“ the statement said.
“This military operation significantly reduced the enemy's potential to carry out air strikes with strike drones against the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine,“ it also said.“
So far, Moscow has not commented on this claim, Reuters notes.
Russia regularly carries out missile strikes and drone attacks against Ukraine. In the past few months, Moscow has launched dozens of drones against Ukraine almost every day in the hope of damaging its infrastructure and exhausting its air defenses, making it less capable of shooting down missiles. Earlier today, the Ukrainian Air Force said it had shot down 15 of the 16 drones launched by Russia overnight, with the last one disappearing from radar.
