Volodymyr Zelensky criticized Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico on his X page.
"It's good that Fico has already returned from his vacation in a luxurious hotel in Vietnam. Apparently, this is not easy for him personally - instead of showing off, he should now try to correct his mistakes," Zelensky wrote, referring to the relations between the Slovak Prime Minister and the Russian authorities.
Zelensky claims that he “offered help to the people of Slovakia while they adapt to the lack of gas transit from Russia, but Fico himself arrogantly refused“. According to the Ukrainian politician, “further diversification of energy supply sources for Europe“ and other measures “will help overcome the problems that arise due to the short-sightedness of individual European figures.“
In December, Fico announced that during negotiations in Brussels, Zelensky had offered him 500 million euros in Russian assets to support the idea of Ukraine joining NATO, which the Slovak Prime Minister refused.
On January 1, the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine was completely stopped due to Kiev's refusal to renew the agreement with "Gazprom". Slovakia also received this gas. Later, Fico announced the interruption of the EU gas consultations, which were scheduled for January 7, due to the absence of the Ukrainian delegation. On January 9, the Prime Minister of Slovakia threatened to take strict measures against Ukraine if the gas transit problems were not resolved.
