Russia is demanding clarifications regarding the statement of US Vice President J.D. Vance, who threatened to send troops to Ukraine if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not agree to a peace treaty that guarantees Kiev's long-term independence, Reuters reported.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that Moscow wanted to know more about the economic and military instruments of influence that Vance had mentioned earlier.
In his words, "this was a new element in the US position". Russia has not heard "such formulations" before and hopes to receive "some additional clarifications", Peskov stressed.
We recall that earlier today, US President Donald Trump announced that representatives of the US, Russia and Ukraine would meet at a security conference in Munich to discuss how to end the war in Ukraine.
Zelensky's advisor Dmytro Lytvyn indicated that the Ukrainian delegation does not plan to attend such a meeting. There is no official information from the Russian side whether representatives of the country will attend the Munich Security Conference.
