The administration of US President Donald Trump is making wrong calculations about the Middle East. This was stated by Turkish President Recep Erdogan, quoted by Reuters. According to him, paying attention to "Zionist lies" will only exacerbate conflicts.
According to him, one should not engage in an approach that ignores the history, values and accumulation of the region. The Turkish president expects Trump to fulfill his election promises to take steps for peace instead of creating new conflicts.
Erdogan stressed that Israel's attack on Gaza amounts to genocide. He called for international action against the Tel Aviv government.
He sees no real signs of a ceasefire in Gaza despite a ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas. He said the Muslim world has yet to take a collective step on the issue.
Turkey has rejected Trump's plan to displace more than 2 million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, take control of it and turn it into the "Riviera of the Middle East".
