Western Europe should look at the geographical map and realize that without Russia, there is no Europe, said Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova, quoted by RIA Novosti, BTA reports.
According to her, Russia is an integral part of the continent, having preserved values that the West has lost.
Zakharova commented on a statement by Finnish President Alexander Stubb, who earlier stated that the Munich Security Conference had turned into a "diplomatic cacophony" and that Europe should take more responsibility, listening to the words of the United States.
She recalled that in the 19th century there existed the so-called Congress system (known as the Concert of Europe) – a mechanism for international relations in which Russia has played a key role.
"You, Western Europe, must understand that Russia is Europe because we have preserved the true values that Western Europeans have destroyed. Until you realize this, instead of a concert, there will be a cacophony," Zakharova wrote on Telegram.
