US President Donald Trump congratulated Kosovo on its Independence Day, the newspaper “Koha Ditore“ reported, BTA reports.
Today, Kosovo marks 17 years since declaring its independence from Serbia – a fact that Belgrade has yet to acknowledge.
According to a statement from the office of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, she received a congratulatory letter from Donald Trump, which highlighted the strong ties between Kosovo and the United States.
“The ties between our peoples are strong, and we look forward to expanding them, including through increased investment opportunities, to bring more prosperity to both our countries,“ the American president wrote in his letter.
He stressed that the United States will continue to support Kosovo in strengthening its democratic institutions and promoting economic growth through a stable business environment.
In the letter, quoted by “Koha Ditore“, Trump expressed readiness for more productive relations with the Kosovo government in the coming year.
The American president also stated that Kosovo's integration into the Euro-Atlantic community is of key importance and appreciated the support of Pristina for Ukraine.
“As we work with Kosovo and its neighbors to build a more prosperous and secure region, it is important that Kosovo integrates further into the Euro-Atlantic community. Kosovo's unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression is greatly appreciated“, the US president added.
In conclusion, Trump stated that the United States fully supports Kosovo in its quest to build a democratic society in which all citizens can live and thrive together.
