At least 10 people have died as a result of floods in the southern part of the province of Buenos Aires, the newspaper La Nacion reported, citing local authorities.
Earlier, the mayor of Bahia Blanca Federico Susbieles said that the flood had killed 6 people and displaced over 1,000. At the time, the mayor did not rule out that the number of victims could increase due to the scale of the natural disaster.
According to authorities, so far 400 mm of rainfall have fallen in the affected area, which is a historical maximum for the city. Defense Minister Luis Petry, Security Minister Patricia Bullrich and Buenos Aires Province Governor Axel Kichiloff arrived in Bahía Blanca. The federal government has pledged 10 billion pesos ($9 million) in flood relief.
