Belgium will accept four of the victims of the fire in a disco in Kocani for treatment, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced. A team of Belgian specialists has traveled to the Republic of North Macedonia (RNM) to assess what assistance is needed, BTA reports.
As a result of the assessment, a decision was made to transport four of the victims to Belgium, where they will receive treatment in several specialized hospitals. The Belgian government has been asked for assistance by the government in Skopje.
“Belgium fully sympathizes with the RNM at this tragic moment“, said Belgian Deputy Prime Minister Maxime Prevost, quoted in the statement. He added that the patients admitted to Belgium will receive the best possible medical care.
It is recalled that a total of 59 people died and 155 were injured with varying degrees of burns and injuries after the fire at the “Pulse“ discotheque in Kocani, eastern North Macedonia. The fire broke out in the early hours of Sunday during a concert by the popular band “DNA“, with sparks from pyrotechnics used for lighting effects causing the blaze. On Monday, seven days of mourning were declared in North Macedonia.
