Turkey's largest oil refiner has resumed imports of Russian crude oil - 1

"Turkish Petroleum Refineries" (TÜPRASH), Turkey's largest oil refiner, has resumed imports of Russian Ural crude oil after prices fell below the set price ceiling of $60 per barrel imposed by G7 sanctions, "Türkiye Today" reported, citing sources and ship traffic data cited by Reuters, BTA reports.

TÜPRASH was one of the largest importers of Russian oil, with in the period January - November 2024 Russia accounted for 65 percent of Turkey's crude oil imports.

However, in February this year, the company stopped importing from Russia after a new package of US sanctions announced on January 10 led to punitive measures against numerous tankers violating the G7 price cap on Russian oil. Turkish imports then shifted to Guyana, Nigeria, Libya and Norway.

According to Reuters sources, TÜPRASH will receive at least two shipments of Russian crude with loading dates in April.
