The heads of tourism departments of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the XII session of the Islamic Conference of Ministers of Tourism in the Uzbek Khiva, which is a tourist city of the Islamic world in 2024, adopted several resolutions aimed at the further development of pilgrimage, medical and ecological tourism. This was stated by the Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abduhakimov.
„During the session, the participants made a number of practical decisions for the further comprehensive development of pilgrimage, medical and ecological tourism, as well as for the standardization of tourism services and the training of personnel for the tourism industry, “, said Abduhakimov.
He also announced that the participants of the session have selected Dakar (Senegal), Cairo (Egypt) and Lahore (Pakistan) as tourist cities of the Islamic world for 2025, 2026 and 2027 respectively.
According to the minister, the heads of tourism departments of Senegal, Samoli, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Libya, Oman, UAE and other OIC countries participated in the session, as well as representatives of some international organizations
