„The world's largest oil ports could be flooded if sea levels rise by one meter. This was reported by the British newspaper The Guardian citing a study by the Swedish climate organization International Cryosphere Climate Initiative (ICCI).
It is noted that 13 ports in China, the Netherlands, the UAE, the Republic of Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the United States are at risk. The ports of Ras Tannour and Yanbu in Saudi Arabia, through which the kingdom exports 98% of its oil, are considered the most vulnerable. The report also includes the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad region, the Texas ports of Houston and Galveston, the Dutch Rotterdam, Fujairah and Khawr Fakkan in the UAE, the Chinese Dalian, Ningbo and Shanghai and the South Korean Guangyang.
According to the organization, a rise in sea level by 1 meter currently seems inevitable in the 21st century. This rise could occur by 2070 if carbon emissions are not reduced. Experts have indicated that the transition to renewable energy sources will help limit the increase in global warming. In the event of a catastrophic development of events, sea levels could rise by 3 meters in the first half of 2100.
