Poland is ready to sell more electricity to Ukraine - 1

Poland is ready to increase electricity supplies to Ukraine if the authorities in Kiev turn to Warsaw with a similar request. “Poland will be able to increase electricity sales to Ukraine, but only if Ukraine itself expresses such a desire. Our operator is ready, the only question is whether Ukraine wants to use it“. This was stated by the Polish Minister of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska on the TV channel TVP Info.

Poland trades electricity with Ukraine via the Rzeszow - Khmelnytskyi NPP line. According to Polish expert Marcin Jakubik, in 2024 Hungary became the largest exporter of electricity from the EU to Ukraine. Budapest accounts for 35% to 45% of the total electricity supplied there from European countries. Poland's share ranges from 15% to 25%, approximately the same amounts are supplied to Kiev and Slovakia.

Earlier, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said that he and his government would discuss retaliatory measures against Ukraine after the suspension of gas transit from Russia.

On January 1, the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the territory of Ukraine was completely stopped. Data from European gas transmission operators confirm the completion of supplies to Austria, Italy, Moldova, Slovakia and the Czech Republic in this direction.
