Growth in demand for Bulgarian wine - 1

Wine production has deep roots in Bulgaria, dating back to before its establishment as a state. The Thracians made wine on our lands 5 thousand years ago. Today, the tradition continues with the participation of new modern winemaking technologies.

For several years, there has been a trend that the customer prefers local and not only Bulgarian, but rather local, regional wine. A large part of the customers know what they are looking for, how to order it and find it, bTV specifies.

It turns out that connoisseurs of good wine also believe in the maxim that “Life is too short to drink cheap wine“.

“People who understand wine and want to drink quality wine are not interested in the price. Currently, red is the most preferred, Merlot is mostly in demand, and Sauvignon Blanc“, says Sasha Lazarova, manager of a restaurant winery.

A winery located in the heart of the Struma River valley, in the village of Logodazh produces rich wines, with a focus on local varieties, which have also won a number of international awards.

“Such wines have their own style, their own character, well, the identity of each winery. We strive, in our cellar we strive at least, for quality to surpass price. So to speak, for the Bulgarian to drink “honest wine“, says Metodi Georgiev, commercial director of the “Logodazh“ winery.

And not only the Bulgarian, because the winery exports wine to Western Europe, Brazil and Japan. And the team strives to improve, upgrade and develop wine production.

“Usually when we are asked “what is your best wine“ - Well, we haven't done it yet! Of course, as far as the color range is concerned - in the red color, Bulgarian wines are extremely good. Very, very good, both on the Bulgarian and on the world market. After all, like our varieties that are in the Struma Valley, the Melnik varieties, both the Mavrudi and the Gamzi“, explains Metodi.

As for the Bulgarian wine culture and the choice of good wine, he has a different view:

“Wine culture is not about whether one understands wine or not. For us, it is more important that wine culture is about drinking wine more often. Not about drinking more wine, but about drinking wine more often! And not about how much wine we drank last night, but what wine we drank!“

Moderate wine consumption promotes a good mood and is a great way to relax. However, it is important to remember that the benefits are only available with reasonable use, experts advise.
