The Technology Industry Alliance has called on the Consumer Protection Commission to stop its "absurd, groundless and legally unfounded attacks" against the three mobile operators. The position of the industry organization comes after on Monday the chairman of the CPC asked the Communications Regulation Commission to revoke the licenses of the three companies for providing mobile services, arguing that they have systematically committed violations and violated the rights of consumers.
"The suggestions of systemic violations are unfounded and contradict the truth. This unprecedented attack on the telecommunications sector undermines the economy, national security and international reputation of Bulgaria", states the position of the Alliance of Technology Industry.
Chairman of the CRC Ivan Dimitrov commented to the Bulgarian National Radio:
"Given that communications are the nervous system of our society and we all live with communications, the commission considered the received letter at an extraordinary meeting. We adopted the following three decisions, which are almost identical: "We do not initiate proceedings for the withdrawal, termination of the permits issued by the Commission for the Regulation of Communications, since the grounds provided for in the relevant article are not exhaustively available. 117 para 1 and 2 of the Electronic Communications Act".
The letters contain violations and penal decrees issued by the CRC. The opinion of the experts from the CPC is that they do not create a prerequisite for such an extreme measure.
"Revoking a mobile operator's license is an extreme measure and we believe that the consumer problems raised can also be solved by introducing deterrent sanctions and specialized legislation, that is - a different conversation".
