A group of student protesters in Serbia confirmed on social media that a 24-hour blockade of the road junction near the "Autokomanda" neighborhood will begin at 10 a.m. local time (11 a.m. Bulgarian time). in Belgrade, Euronews Serbia reported, quoted by BTA.

Serbian students have been protesting and organizing blockades in Belgrade and other Serbian cities after a concrete canopy at the Novi Sad train station collapsed and killed 15 people on November 1, 2024.

Citizens across Serbia have been stopping and observing silence for 15 minutes almost every day as part of anti-government protests in the country demanding that those responsible for the tragedy in the northern Serbian city be punished.

Traffic blockades have been taking place every day since November 1 last year. exactly at 11:52 a.m., when the canopy of the Novi Sad train station building collapsed on the people below, the Associated Press notes.

In their statement today, the protesting students indicated that they would block "Autokomanda" because they believe that the request for the publication of the full documentation for the reconstruction of the Novi Sad train station has not been fully met, Euronews Serbia also writes.

The situation center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported that the road junction is part of the international road E-75 and warned that its blockade, which is part of the ongoing protests in Belgrade, will last at least 24 hours.

Spontaneous blockades are also possible on other road sections in Serbia, without prior notice, the situation center of Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
