Due to the snowfall in Sofia overnight, anti-icing mixtures have begun on streets and boulevards used by public transport, bridges and steep sections, the Sofia Municipality announced. 75 snow removal machines are on site, and 165 are on standby.
The first treatments are on the territory of the “Pancharevo“ region and the Southern Arc of the Ring Road. Treatments have also been carried out on municipal roads in the “Bankya“, “Ovcha Kupel“, “Lyulin“ regions, as well as on the roads in the village of Zheleznitsa and Plana, where snow removal is also being carried out, the Sofia Municipality informed.
In the „Vitosha“ Nature Park, where only sand treatments are allowed, snow removal and sanding of the roads in the „Boyana“ district - the Zlatnite mostove area and the „Dragalevtsi“ district - the „Aleko“.
Urban transport is moving everywhere and is following its usual routes.
According to the weather forecast of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology, today will be cloudy over most of the country. During the first half of the day, light rain mixed with snow will fall in the central regions of Northern Bulgaria. A weak easterly wind will blow in the Danube Plain, and in the eastern regions - mainly weak from the south-southwest. Maximum temperatures will be between 2°C and 7°C, for Sofia - around 5°C.
