With 128 votes "for", the MPs approved the declaration submitted by the Speaker of the National Assembly Natalia Kiselova, with which the parliament expresses concern about the progress of the case in the Constitutional Court to challenge the legality of the last parliamentary elections. It calls on the Constitutional Court to make all documents public and to carry out additional actions to collect evidence for establishment. 53 MPs from the PP-DB and the MRF-DPS voted against, and from the MECH abstained. From "Vazrazhdane" did not participate in the vote, only 1 of their deputies voted "for".
In front of journalists on the sidelines of the National Assembly, Gen. Atanas Atanasov reacted emotionally to this development. "The National Assembly is the highest body of state power – this is what is written in Art. 1 of the Constitution. I want to tell you quite emotionally that I am ashamed of what happened today in the plenary hall. The National Assembly "gave birth" to a premature baby with this clumsy declaration," he commented, quoted by novini.bg.
Atanasov clarified the methodology by which this item was included in the deputies' agenda.
„Natalia Kiselova wrote a letter to herself so that this could be included in the National Assembly. These are documents that remain in the annals of the National Assembly. They will be read. That's why I said I'm ashamed“, the deputy explained.
“Right now inside – in the plenary hall, a hearing of the experts, the experts who were appointed by the Constitutional Court, is beginning, and we have already declared with a declaration that the Constitutional Court has not done its job. Not to mention the texts that state that “someone is not doing their job and it is obvious“. Who is this someone, anyway? How can such a text even exist. This does not look like anything”, Gen. Atanasov is indignant.
