Former Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev and former Sofia District Prosecutor Nevena Zartova are among the witnesses in the case against prosecutor Konstantin Sulev, accused of official misconduct. The trial was suspended, but returned to the city court by a decision of the supreme magistrates.
Zartova, her former deputy Borislav Georgiev, as well as Kristiyan Georgiev, who was arrested in front of the BTA building, have been summoned for Thursday, when the second hearing in the case is, the court announced.
On May 31, 2023, officers of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption detained Hristov in front of the entrance to BTA, who was supposed to give a press conference at the agency's National Press Club on the topic: “The Eight Dwarfs“ from within and the vicious methods of controlling the judicial system“.
The prosecutor is accused of having violated and failed to fulfill his official duties, in the period from May 30 to June 1, 2023, under the conditions of a continuing crime, in his capacity as an official, in order to obtain a benefit for Ivan Geshev by preventing information against him from being published in the media, as well as in order to cause harm to Petyo Petrov and Kristiyan Hristov.
At the first hearing in the case, which was on February 20, the prosecutor's office requested that the former head of “Internal Security” at the Ministry of Interior, Stefcho Bankov, Lyubena Pavlova and attorney Velimir Atanasov - related to Petyo Petrov - be questioned.
